This law adds extra prison time for committing violent crimes while armed, bans people convicted of violent crimes from possessing pistols, and requires a license to carry concealed weapons in Washington, D.C., with specific exemptions for officials and certain activities. It regulates firearm sales through age limits, background restrictions, waiting periods, recordkeeping, and dealer licensing, while prohibiting possession of certain weapons (like machine guns and sawed-off shotguns) except for authorized groups. It also criminalizes false information, tampering with weapon identification, and violations of the act, with penalties of fines or imprisonment.
