Summary
This law regulated the transportation of dangerous goods by rail, prohibiting individuals from shipping hazardous materials such as acids, gunpowder, nitroglycerin, and other dangerous substances without proper disclosure. Shippers were required to clearly label such packages or provide written notice to the railroad, and violations resulted in fines and liability for any resulting damages. Railroads could refuse suspicious packages or require them to be opened for inspection.
