| dc.description.summary | This statute makes carrying a concealed dangerous weapon (such as a pistol, bowie knife, or dirk) punishable by a fine up to $100 and up to 30 days in jail for a first offense, or up to $100 and three months in jail for a second offense. However, the accused will be acquitted if they can prove the weapon was carried for self-defense, property defense, or family protection under circumstances that would justify a prudent person while engaged in lawful business. Note these fines are a reduction; in 1875, fines were $500. | |
